The Flowers at the End of Time

The Flowers at the End of Time reflects on the idea of something beautiful still existing at the very end, an image of persistence and fragility as everything else fades. The work is deeply personal in nature and centers around themes of bittersweetness, collapse, and renewal. It is dedicated to someone very important, whose presence played a meaningful role in the creation of this piece.

The first movement, March, introduces a darker atmosphere. While the outer sections carry a sense of weight and inevitability, the trio provides a more calm and hopeful contrast before the return of the march transforms that feeling into something more bittersweet.

Synthesis blends different musical styles, drawing inspiration from electronic music, particularly EDM and drum and bass. Driven by the drumset and lowest voices of the ensemble, the music becomes increasingly chaotic and intense, suggesting a kind of breakdown before ending abruptly.

The Fugue is more reflective and restrained. It begins simply, builds to a fuller moment, and then gradually fades back into stillness.

The final movement, Renascence, turns toward what comes after. Beginning quietly, it gradually builds and opens into something more energetic and alive, suggesting a sense of rebirth.
